The Mattie Foundation founded in memory of Matt Metzer who touched the lives of many people through his kindness, generosity and work in the downtown Scottsdale hospitality industry.  Matt would greet everyone with a big hug and was willing to go the extra mile for his customers, friends and co-workers.

The Mattie Foundation was established because one family experienced the loss of a loved one who had the fear of being unable to afford proper medical care.  This unnecessary loss of life is something that no one should have to experience.

Due to the nature of the hospitality industry many of those employed in this industry often work more than one job and don't have medical insurance to deal with their health issues.  At times their employment conflicts with normal hours of healthcare providers and illnesses are treated with over-the-counter medication instead of going to a doctor, urgent care facility or  hospital emergency room.  Minor illness can escalate to a life-threatening condition without timely proper medical treatment.

The Mattie Foundation's mission is to assist those who work in the Arizona hospitality industry that do not have medical insurance or have a high deductible/co-pay and need some financial help to get minimal healthcare services such as doctor's visits, lab fees and prescriptions.

The Mattie Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public charity (non-profit organization) governed by volunteers who serve on the Board of Directors.  The Mattie Foundation Board of Directors is committed to keeping costs to a minimum by seeking community partners to provide administrative, program and fund raising materials for free or at a low cost.
